Roxann Martin

Director of Operations & Facility Management

The first thing people probably notice about Roxann Martin is her servant’s heart. Her ability and desire to care for those around her is extraordinary, and something her clients and colleagues at Serenity Estates in Mineral Wells, as well as her own family, can all likely explain in heartfelt detail.


“I absolutely love caring for people” Roxann explains. “The joy that I get seeing them either get better or just feel better, always makes my day.”


As the Director of Operations & Facility Management, it allows her to select and instruct caregivers and provide excellent care to their tenants. “I hire and train the staff, and oversee their daily activities,” says Roxann, outlining her responsibilities.


Roxann’s career began as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). “When I started in 1985 there was a nursing shortage and LVNs were used in the hospital,” she says.


After working at Fort Worth area hospitals for several years she later shifted gears into home health care. She also worked with children, and, by her count, fostered 35 in her own home.


“I was in pediatric health, working with pediatric pulmonology patients,” she says. “I had a close relationship with the physician who wanted me to foster some of his patients in our home; we ended up having an intense medical foster home.” She adopted several of the children, giving them a safe, loving home, which seems typical for a person like Roxann.


Her work in various medical roles provided a smart path for her future as Roxann joined Serenity Estates. In her current position, she covers an impressive amount of territory. From constantly reviewing tenants’ medical information to “handling all the various fire drills,” her responsibilities are varied and important. “I work directly with home health care and hospice personnel as needed, as well as doctors, pharmacies, and on numerous business concerns.” Roxann prides herself on providing quality care from the beginning to the end, providing any assistance that Serenity Estates clients might need to deliver the quality of life they require.


Serenity Estates is special. It provides an attentive home for individuals who need assisted living, but also want to retain their independence. The facility features an experienced, well-trained staff to serve the unique needs of residents. “I love my staff and I love teaching … that’s what gets me up each day,” she says.


“We are a distinctive home-based facility that strives to make everything in our building feel like home,” Roxann explains. “And every staff member is also trained to think of Serenity Estates as a home.” Roxann also prides herself on providing 24/7 access to her staff and Serenity Estates clients and their families, a personal hallmark she has developed over her decade of working with the company. “Since I serve as the nursing supervisor as well as the manager, that makes me different than what you might see in most places,” she says.


Roxann’s passion is caring for people, in the facility she believes in so much. “I want this to be a thriving, caring place that people will see as a home, not a business – a place that people would want their loved one to be in,” she says.


“Quite simply, I want them to walk in the door and feel like this is a home.”
